The majority of countries that celebrate Mother's Day do so on the second Sunday of May. On this day, it is common for Mothers to be lavished with presents and special attention from their families, friends and loved ones. It was Anna Jarvis, who finally succeeded in introducing Mother's Day in the sense as we celebrate it today. She hoped Mother's Day would increase respect for parents and strengthen family bonds and in 1914 it was declared a national holiday. |
